When Rowan's class has parties, I always like to send a little something. I don't always have the time to bake homemade cookies, or assemble cute individual snacks. This looked SO easy and adorable. Take individually packaged mandarin oranges and draw jack-o-lantern faces with a permanent marker. I will be sending these to class soon!

Pumpkin Servers
Whether it's a Halloween party, a Thanksgiving dinner or just a fall get-together, pumpkins are always a beautiful decoration and can be useful serving accessories. Cut the tops off various styles and sizes of pumpkins so that they are level, then set serving trays on top for a festive table.

Boo!
This is a great way to put old buttons to use! They could be hot glued onto a real pumpkin or a plastic pumpkin, topped with a ribbon and that's all there is to it!

Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffins

One of my favorite things about this time of year is all of the new and interesting pumpkin recipes and pumpkin flavored goodies that come popping up on menus everywhere. I've made no secret of how much I LOVE Starbucks' Pumpkin Spice Latte, but these Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffins from Starbucks are also wonderful! If you don't live near a Starbucks, or just prefer to make them on your own, this copy cat recipe came from food.com.
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
Directions:
-
Preheat oven to 350.
-
Put the entire brick of cream cheese on a piece of wax paper or parchment paper and shape it into a long log.
-
Put it in the freezer while you mix and fill the pans, up to an hour.
-
Unwrap and cut with a sharp knife so each cream cheese disk equals 1-2 teaspoons. If the cream cheese disks are too big around, cut thick slices and then cut them in half. This lets you push it down into the batter easier.
-
Mix all ingredients together (except cream cheese and nuts).
-
Fill muffin tins (greased or paper cups) half full.
-
Put cream cheese disc in the middle, pressing down.
-
Sprinkle with 1 tsp chopped nuts.
-
Bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean from the muffin part (do not touch the cream cheese!).
-
Let cool in pans for 5 minutes, then remove to racks to cool completely. Do not touch the cream cheese until it cools.

Vampire Pumpkins
I love this idea from marthastewart.com. It's a great idea for those small pumpkins that we pick up from the store just to sit around. I picked up some glow-in-the-dark fangs from Michaels (a bag full was $4.99) and the eyes are red map pins. Visit Martha Stewart Living website for a template for the mouth cut out to be sure the fangs fit!
